JAMMU, NOVEMBER 27 (KNO) : Minister for Finance, Labour & Employment Dr Haseeb Drabu today reviewed the functioning of various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in the State. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Finance, Navin Kumar Choudhary, Commissioner Secretary Industries & Commerce, Shailendra Kumar and Managing Directors of J&K Industries Limited, J&K Minerals Limited, J&K Cements Limited, J&K State Industrial Development Corporation, J&K Small Scale Industries Development Corporation, SICOP and other concerned officers. During the meeting, the Minister was briefed about the working and the problems confronting these Corporations. The meeting held deliberations on the issues related to each Corporation and also discussed the possible way out to strengthen them to further develop industrial sector in the state. The Minister also sought details on the projects undertaken by these Corporations and the achievements made so far in turning them into self-reliant commercial units. The heads of the Corporations also put forth various issues and demands including budgetary support and other necessary assistance from the government. Addressing the heads of these Corporations, the Minister stressed the need for formulation of effective working plan with adoption of innovative measures for generation of revenue in a better way and to re-double efforts towards making the Corporations more viable. “The idea of calling this meeting is to understand the issues and to come up with a future plan for overall growth of these Corporations. Government is providing all necessary support in terms of financial help or administrative support, but real responsibility lies with the persons heading these units to transform them into a pure profit earning unit’’, the Minister said. Terming SICOP and SIDCO as vital units for creation of Industrial Estates in the state, the Minister asked the concerned officers to work with a mission to develop industrial sector and to attract the industrialists for establishing their industrial units in Jammu & Kashmir. No: PR/DI/17/8007/ Government of Jammu and Kashmir Directorate of Information Monday, November 27, 2017 Email: dirinf17jk@gmail.com Zulfkar for bridging critical gap in implementation of Tribal welfare schemes JAMMU, NOVEMBER 27: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Tribal Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, today directed the Tribal Affairs department to chalk out comprehensive strategies for effective implementation of welfare programmes and schemes meant for socio-economic emancipation of Tribal community in the state. The Minister issued these directions while chairing a review meeting held with regard to Special Central Assistance to Tribal Sub-Plan (SCA to TSP), a special area programme of Ministry for Tribal Development for rapid economic development of tribals in the States. While reviewing the physical and financial achievements registered under various sectors, the Minister emphasized optimum utilization of funds to create durable assets like setting up of cluster model villages to tap tourism potential, construction of G&B Hostels, Milk Villages, Skill Development centres, construction of shelters for nomads, Tribal Bhawan, Tribal research institute, Pre & Post matric scholarships etc. He stressed on multi-prolonged strategies to further streamline the functioning of the department. The Minister impressed upon the officers for promotion of need based integrated livelihood initiatives and skill upgradation of tribals to enable them get respectable jobs in various sectors like diversified crops, horticulture, dairy development, backyard poultry, sericulture besides others with proper market linkages and financing. He directed tourism department for developing and promoting various tourism projects in potential tribal areas. The Minister said that liberal funding is being provided to the department of Tribal Affairs to fill up critical gaps to ensure holistic development of the Scheduled Tribes besides uplift of down trodden people. He asked the officers to chalk out a comprehensive plan envisaging availability of all necessary services related to their respective departments so that these marginalized segments of the society are brought under the ambit of various state and centrally sponsored schemes for their socio-economic empowerment. The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary Forest, Muhammad Afzal, Commissioner Secretary Tribal Affairs, Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, Secretary Tourism Sarmad Hafeez, Director Tribal Affairs, Mohd Rafi, Special Secretary Tribal Affairs, M S Chowdhary, Secretary Gujjar and Bakerwal Board, Mukhtar Ahmed, Director Finance Tribal Affairs, Dr S. S Sen besides other senior officers of various departments.(KNO)
